Busing for Students

On a campus as large as Michigan State University, walking from one end of campus to the other can be a hassle.
Luckily for students, there are a variety of ways to get around including biking, riding a moped or riding the bus.
For many, riding the bus is the most convenient option, with East Lansing city bus stops located all over campus.
By riding the bus, students are able to get anywhere on campus within a matter of minutes, as well as the area surrounding campus.

Kate Dann, a sophomore at MSU, said “(the bus) takes me directly to my classes which is really nice. It saves time compared to walking, and I don’t really like biking because I don’t like to navigate my way through people, so the bus is really convenient in that way.”

One popular method of transportation for students living on campus at Michigan State University is using bike trails. Many bike trails on campus run parallel to sidewalks and allow students a faster alternative than walking. Joshua Gonzalez, a sophomore at Michigan State, said his classes “vary around campus from one end to the other end so I usually bike.” Another convenient aspect of riding a bike around campus is the service center on Farm Lane that enables students to rent a bike or have repairs done. Shawn Hoffman, an alumnus of Michigan State and current MSU Bikes Service Center employee, said “(the MSU Bikes Service Center is) pretty cool because it’s an affordable way for a student to get a bike, and maintenance is included in the price of the bike, so it’s kind of a worry free way to get around campus.”

For Spartan Fans: Saturday was exactly what we needed

For anyone who knows me, it's no secret that I've been critical of the Michigan State basketball team's ability to compete against top level talent ever since suffering losses against Ohio State and Michigan. That all changed on Saturday. The Spartans were able to secure a signature win against the #3 ranked Purdue Boilermakers. It wasn't just the fact that they were able to get the job done against a great team, it was the fact that Miles Bridges played like a man who returned to school on a mission. Bridges spurned the NBA last spring in favor of returning to MSU for his sophomore year. The objective was clear: get Tom Izzo his second national championship. Prior to the Purdue game, many people (including myself) had criticized his development, opining that he lacked a killer instinct and a certain selfishness necessary for this Spartan team to reach their goals. The Detroit Red Wings and Tanking

Red Wings fans, all things considered, have had things pretty good the past two and a half decades. Ken Holland, GM and executive vice president of the Detroit Red Wings, has been the architect of three Stanley Cup Championship teams, but now he faces a different challenge: rebuilding the Red Wings to their former glory. Heading into this season, with the retirement of former captain Henrik Zetterberg, many fans ear-marked the Red Wings as a shoe-in for the bottom of the league's standings. Although that would require a lot of pain and losing in a single season, the silver lining would be a shot at winning the draft lottery and attaining the number one overall pick, and spending said-pick on superstar forward Jack Hughes, a skilled center skating for the US National Team Development Program in Plymouth, Michigan.
